Beef Bourguignon

So one of my favourite dishes, a groves family one at heart but full on french, mind you, there’s a whole bottle of wine in this one.

  • 1 bottle of red wine
  • 1 onion
  • hand full of mushrooms
  • 2 rashes of smoked bacon (chopped)
  • pound of diced beef
  • tablespoon tomato puree
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 beef stock

Step 1: Chop the mushrooms and onion into chunks, you don’t want them chopped finely

Step 2: Add a dab of butter and on a medium heat and brown the beef in the casserole dish Image

Step 2: Take the beef out and put into a separate dish, put in the mushrooms, onion, bacon and garlic into the casserole dish and on a medium heat and brown them

Step 4: Add the beef back into the casserole dish with the rest of the ingredients, add in 100ml of red wine to the dish and use that to scrap the bottom to get the flavours off the bottom

Step 5: Add in the rest of the wine bottle, all of it! and add in the beef stock and stir until dissolved, put on the lid and into the oven at 150° for 3 hours

Step 6: Take your dish out of the oven and it is ready for yours to enjoy, personally i like it with some mash and peas, the bourguignon itself is rich and full of flavour
